Design and build
The phone measures 162.5 x 73 x 8.1mm and weighs 189g, which is light for a flagship of its time. Meizu describes it as waterproof, although it does not list a formal IP rating in our data. Colour options were Blue, White and Gray. The narrow 73mm width makes it comfortable to hold in one hand compared with many newer, wider phones.
Display
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen is one of its best features. It has a 1440 x 3200 resolution, around 526 pixels per inch, so text and photos look very sharp. The refresh rate reaches 120Hz, and HDR10+ is supported. Peak brightness is listed at 1300 nits. Gorilla Glass 6 protects the front.
Performance and software
The Snapdragon 888 was Qualcomm’s flagship chip in 2021. It still handles everyday apps, social media and most games well. However, it is known to run warm under heavy load. You get 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, with no memory card slot. The phone launched with Flyme 9 based on Android 11, which is now old.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus and optical stabilisation. An 8MP telephoto provides 3x optical zoom, and a 32MP ultrawide covers wide scenes. Video recording reaches 8K, or 4K at up to 60fps. On the front, a 44MP selfie camera records 4K video, which was unusual in 2021.
Battery and charging
The 4500mAh battery is modest by today’s standards. Most users will need to charge once a day. Charging is quick, though: 40W wired reaches 40% in about 15 minutes and a full charge in about 50 minutes. It also supports 40W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Connectivity
The phone supports 5G, including the n78 band. It also has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. An ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor handles unlocking. There are stereo speakers but no headphone jack.
Tips for new owners
If you are buying a used this phone, check the battery health and look for screen burn-in, because the panel is several years old. Ask the seller whether the phone has Google services installed, since some units shipped for the Chinese market. Test the cameras, speakers and fingerprint sensor before paying. Use a case with good grip, because the glass back can be slippery. Finally, keep in mind that newer apps may eventually stop supporting old Android versions, so this phone is best as a budget or backup device.
How it compares
Compared with a new mid-range phone in 2026, this phone still has a better screen and more camera options than many. However, newer phones offer much bigger batteries, newer software and longer update support. If you find one cheaply in good condition, it can be a fun enthusiast phone. Otherwise, a current model is the safer choice. See the latest options in our phones section.
Price and availability
This phone is no longer sold new by Meizu. Prices on the used market vary with condition and seller, so compare several offers and check the phone carefully.
