Open the phone and you get a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2520 x 1080 pixels. It refreshes at up to 120Hz for smooth scrolling. On the outside is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen with 1048 x 948 pixels. You can use it for notifications, quick replies, music controls and selfies without opening the phone.

Performance and software

Samsung lists a deca-core processor with cores at 3.8GHz, 3.26GHz and 2.76GHz. The phone has 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That is a lot of space for a compact phone. It runs Android with One UI. Samsung promises security updates until July 2033. See how to update Samsung phone software to stay protected.

Cameras

There are two rear cameras. The main camera has a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, autofocus and optical stabilisation. The 12MP ultrawide has an f/2.2 aperture. Samsung quotes 2x optical-quality zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. The 10MP selfie camera sits in the main screen. You can also take selfies with the main rear camera by using the cover screen as a viewfinder. Video recording reaches 4K at 60fps.

Battery and charging

The Flip8 has a 4300mAh battery. Samsung rates it for up to 31 hours of video playback. That is a strong figure for such a small phone. If you want to stretch it further, read our battery saving tips.

Connectivity

The Flip8 supports 5G sub-6GHz networks, including the n78 band used in Nigeria. You also get Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. The USB Type-C port runs at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds. SIM options include Nano-SIM plus eSIM, or dual eSIM.

How it compares

The Flip8 is the lightest of Samsung’s 2026 foldables at 180 g. The Fold8 weighs 201 g and the Fold8 Ultra weighs 215 g. The Flip8 also has the best video playback rating of the three, at up to 31 hours. However, its cover screen is the smallest at 4.1 inches. It also skips the telephoto camera found on the Ultra. Think of the Flip8 as a normal phone that folds to half the size. The Fold models are better for work and multitasking. The Flip8 is better for portability, style and selfies.
