Design and build

The phone measures 162.7 x 75.9 x 7.8mm and weighs 193g. It is slim and comfortable to hold. Colours are Dark Welkin and Serenity Blue. An optical in-display fingerprint sensor sits under the screen.

Display

The 6.67-inch AMOLED screen has a full HD resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and refreshes at up to 120Hz. AMOLED gives deep blacks and vivid colours, which makes videos and photos look great.

Performance and software

The MediaTek Dimensity 8020 is a 6nm chip with four Cortex-A78 performance cores and a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. When it launched, it was strong for the price, and it still handles most games and apps smoothly. You get 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, plus a dedicated microSD slot. The phone launched with HIOS 13 based on Android 13, which is now quite old.

Cameras

The main camera uses a 64MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and optical stabilisation. It records 4K video at 30fps. A 2MP macro camera handles close-up shots. A ring-shaped LED flash helps in low light. On the front, the 32MP selfie camera has a dual-LED flash, which is helpful for night selfies.

Battery and charging

A 5000mAh battery should last a full day of normal use. Charging runs at 33W, which is reasonable but not as fast as newer phones.

Connectivity

The phone supports 5G. It has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and USB-C. There is no NFC. You also get stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-Res audio support.

Tips for new owners

Install every available software update first, because the phone launched on an older Android version. Insert a microSD card to store photos and videos. Use the night mode and the 64MP camera’s stabilisation for better low-light photos. Use the front flash for selfies in dark rooms. Keep your apps updated, and check that your favourite apps still support the installed Android version.

What to check before you buy

Before buying, especially a used unit, check the battery health and the screen for burn-in. Ask which Android and HIOS version is installed. Confirm 5G works on your network. Check that the IMEI matches the box and that the phone is genuine. Because this model is from 2023, compare its price with newer phones before you decide.

How it compares

Compared with newer budget phones, the Camon 20s Pro 5G still offers a faster chip than many, plus a 64MP camera with OIS, a headphone jack and expandable storage. However, newer phones bring bigger batteries, faster charging and longer software support. If you find it at a low price, it remains a solid buy. Browse newer options in our phones section.
